Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience

Henchion Reuter Architects are leading a multi-disciplinary team to develop proposals for the Cliffs of Moher Experience in County Clare. The Cliffs of Moher tower over the rugged west Clare coastline and are one of Ireland’s favourite visitor experiences with annual visitor numbers approaching 1.6m. The current visitor centre is no longer fit-for-purpose. A Strategy 2040 has been completed setting out significant developments at the site with a masterplan for phased execution. The site is environmentally sensitive.

The project includes:

  • Extended site area to facilitate more complex (non-linear) walking routes.
  • Re-wilding of circa 200 acres of agricultural land to create a new clifftop landscape.
  • Remote car-parking hubs and shuttle bus access to relieve local traffic issues.
  • A new Visitors Arrivals Building on the landward side of the R478.
  • Pedestrian Bridge to cross the R478.
  • Additional viewing platforms to view the Cliffs.

The design team includes DFLA, ROD, TPP, TmcN&P.
